No Lack of effort

The 20-year-old Launceston Mountain Bike Club member, of Wyena, completed the course 11:18 behind New Zealand winner Sam Gaze’s time of 1:17.46.
Hobart’s Ben Bradley, 22, finished 48th, 7:57 down.
Tour guidance
Kurt Mackey and Jack Welch have returned from a successful tour of Europe with the Australian development hockey team.
The Hobart talents saw the tour as a great success after winning five out of the seven games played against quality opposition.
“As the tour continued I was happier with my form,” Mackey said. “The highlight was playing the Irish, a senior international side that is climbing the rankings in the world – they provided us with some quality opposition."
Welch agreed on the tour highlight.
“It was the first time I played a senior international team and they were a quality side, so it was definitely an experience to remember,” he said.
"I took a lot away from the tour.”
Losing only to the German under-21s (1-5) and Ireland Seniors (0-2), the team exacted revenge against Germany (4-2) and also beat under-21 teams from England (2-0), Belgium (4-0) and Holland (3-2) plus Oranje Rood (4-2).
