160 Tasmanian schools across government, Catholic and independent schools are taking part in the tests which are running through August and September.
The program is focused on ensuring school readiness and are not testing students for their NAPLAN scores.
“Participating schools can trial the new assessment platform and assess their readiness to participate in NAPLAN online from 2019,” an Education Department spokesperson said.
“These practice tests help students familiarise themselves with the types of questions that may be asked when NAPLAN transitions to online.
“The tests are not a test of student achievement.”
The tests assess school capacity in terms of internet connectivity, bandwidth and number of devices available.
The school readiness testing also includes a survey component to gather information from teachers and schools on the results of the tests.
