At the meeting on Monday aldermen discussed the retirement of general manager Mr Dobrzynski in closed council.
City of Launceston acting general manager Michael Tidey said it was “business as usual for us as we wait for Michael Stretton to start in October”.
"The former general manager elected to retire and there is no additional cost to ratepayers arising from this, nor any special severance clauses,” he said.
"Disclosure of the general manager's remuneration band is made annually in the council's Annual Report, and there has been no increase in the remuneration band."
The general manager is paid between $290,001 and $310,000.
