The Blues were missing at least six key players including Daria Bannister and Mia King for the All-Australian game but came back to beat Glenorchy 5.5 (35) to 4.6 (30).
“It was good to come down and get the win, but we were expected to,” Blues assistant coach Brett Sweeney said.
“We are a very even and are a quite deep team.
“We’ve got girls out, but that’s no excuse - we thought we had a good enough team on the park to win.”
Kate Child proved the standout, playing her role for the team to cover the losses.
Launceston had seemed to control most parts of the game, but fell a point behind late in the game.
Naomi Celebre kicked the matchwinner to arrest the lead back, one of her three goals from just the Blues’ five.
“We just couldn’t break the game open,” Sweeney said.
“We probably thought we were playing reasonably well – it was quite a high-pressure game, actually.”
