Deloraine Community House coordinator Narelle Whatley said it was a tight-knit town and the ‘shocking’ incident had sent ripples throughout the region.
“The community out here always pulls together and responds when something like this happens,” she said.
“We have had a few people come in to ask questions about how the family is being supported. All of the local organisations are working together to ensure they can be supported throughout this recovery process.”
Ms Whatley said anyone affected by the incident could visit the community house for help.
“We can refer people to counselling services,” she said.
“We’re a well utilised resource in the community and what we find is when these things happe we get an increase in people coming in that want to have a conversation about it.”
