Since Kolmark started in 2001, they have specialised in piping, industrial stainless steel, tank fabrication and mechanical projects.
Over the years they have expanded the services they offer to the food grade market within pharmaceuticals and the food and beverage industries.
This has seen the business taking on projects with vineyards, breweries and dairies.
The work we do isnt in the ordinary boilermaking game, it is still in the craftsman type work.
- Mark Koodziej
For the food industry there can be cheaper options for them to import in, especially in the wine and dairy industries, Mark said.
But you will always have those companies loyal to Tasmanian products, Mark said.
We have installed wine tanks for Derwent Estate and Josef Chromy, and have done a lot of work for Boags who are very loyal to the Tasmanian market.
We build not only wine and milk tanks but water storage and waste water tanks too.
With Kolmarks recent expansion in size and into the distilling industry, they will still have a focus on their core business.
It is very much a wide and varied business, Mark said.
But it isnt steady, which means you need to be opportunistic.
We have the skills and the capacity to do a wide range of work to a high standard.
Pipework makes up around 50 percent of our work, it would be our staple diet in the industry.
We have been lucky to have a fantastic partnership with Tasmanian Alkaloids for many years and they have been very loyal to us.
When it comes to pipework, Kolmark know their stuff.
Their tradesmen are qualified to fabricate and install a range of piping mediums including high pressure steam lines; super heated air lines; high pressure air lines; process piping in stainless, steel, copper or plastics; and natural gas lines.
When we train our guys up we make sure they have their pressure welding tickets so they can do pressure piping, Mark said.
We dont just do stainless piping we also do gas pipe work and we are currently working on a job for the Australian Antarctic division for their fuel lines.
The work we do isnt in the ordinary boilermaking game, it is still in the craftsman type work.
