If the Torns win this weekend’s clash, they’ll be through to the SEABL women’s grand final.
The team’s committee is hoping have 10 businesses donate $500 in a bid to cover the extra players’ travel costs.
Tornadoes general manager Corey Ackerly said having the whole team at the final would give the players a home-game feel.
“Normally we would only budget and send our best 10 players, a coach and a manager, but our full 16 squad is going, which includes our local players who train every week to give us the best chance to win,” Ackerly said.
“These are the young players who train every week, warm up with the team at every home game, but don’t get the chance to experience playing on a road trip.”
The committee will send the whole squad of players and staff, including assistant coaches and a physiotherapist, to give the team the best shot at winning.
“Now for every game that we win, we have to travel away for … it becomes a fairly costly exercise for us,” Ackerly said.
The $5000 would allow the team to have an extra 10 people on the road with them.
“That’ll help with their airfares, their transport from Melbourne to Bendigo, accommodation and food,” Ackerly said.
The campaign was launched on Monday, with six Launceston businesses already coming on board.
”Fingers cross we win this week and are back in Melbourne the following weekend for the SEABL Championship game,” Mr Ackerly said.
The team will play against the Lady Braves on Saturday night.
