An L-plate motorcyclist has been caught riding at 100km/h over the limit.
Tasmania Police clocked the 2009 Hyosung GT650 at 180km/h on the Bass Highway at Smithton, near Backline Road, on Friday afternoon.
Police found the rider was a 24-year-old man from Smithton, on his learner license, which carries a maximum speed restriction of 80km/h.
His bike was seized, and will face a four-month disqualification period from riding, six demerit points, and a fine of more than $900.
Tasmania Police took the opportunity to remind motorists that “speeding shatters lives”.
