The Launceston sub-branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia invites all Vietnam veterans, their families and friends to attend the midday service.
If weather does not permit the service to go ahead at Paterson Street, it will be relocated to the Launceston RSL.
A civic function will be held from 12.30pm at the Launceston RSL’s Flanders Room.
The veterans and community bus will be available from the RSL at 11.30am. The bus will transport people to and from the service.
Anyone wishing to be called upon to lay a wreath should contact Joy on 0409 359 965.
The Launceston sub-branch recommends attendees lay a flower instead of a wreath.
A service will also be held at the Scottsdale RSL Club at 11am on August 18.
Guest speaker for the Scottsdale commemoration will be Harley Stanton, brother-in-law of Launceston-born Ron Betts – the only Tasmanian helicopter pilot to die in the Vietnam War.
