Stephen Conway stood down from the role in May after a report by the Integrity Commission found he gave favourable treatment to his deputy, who was also his close friend.
The commission found Mr Conway demonstrated favouritism, mainly apparent in financials, towards deputy chief executive Lori Hocking.
TasTAFE advertised the role on Saturday. Applications are open until September 1.
