The Tasmanian Food Co brand was also named Champion Dairy (Other Product), dairy production manager Tommy Madsen said.
“Our creams are produced by hand in a traditional style using the best in natural ingredients,” Mr Madsen said.
“Meander Valley double cream is a luscious, high fat pure cream produced in small batches. In fact we maintain 56 per cent milk fat in this product, so it is very rich, decadent and silky smooth,” he said.
The double cream also won gold in the Best Cream category at the 2017 Australian Food Awards.
Fellow Tasmanian Food Co dairy brand, Robur Farm Dairy, won the Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards Champion Sheep & Goat Product category for its marinated goat fetta, chief executive Jane Bennett said.
“We are seeing a growing demand for these products across Australia which is great news for the value consumers put on the provenance of Tasmanian produce and we aim to continue lifting standards in the field and the kitchen,” Ms Bennett said.
Robur Farm Dairy won two gold medals awarded at the 2017 Adelaide Show Dairy Awards for its wasabi spreadable chevre and goat milk.
“The Tasmanian Food Co’s products are naturally and authentically Tasmanian. We believe our environment and our passionate people make the best tasting food for the world stage and these awards go a long way to affirming that belief,” Ms Bennett said.
