The 120-metre bridge will be located about 160 metres west of the Charles Street Bridge, and will link the Seaport and North Bank.
Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said the tender documents set out design parameters the bridge would need to meet.
“The tender process follows the approval of a development application for the bridge, which was approved by the council at its meeting on June 26,” Alderman van Zetten said.
“A pedestrian and cycle bridge across this section of the North Esk River is going to help us open up the North Bank site, which will soon be the subject of a major public space redevelopment.”

“The site will be divided into four precinct areas, each one featuring a recreational experience for different age groups and activities,” he said.
