“For me, it’s not life-changing as such, it’s life-saving,” she said.
“It is a precious gift. It’s the gift of life.”
Ms Quor is a language teacher at Launceston Church Grammar School, and suffered liver failure in 2015.
“I was very ill. I was still teaching when I was quite ill.
“I didn’t want to go home, I just wanted to keep teaching until the end of the day.
“A couple of days after that, I was in the hospital.”
Ms Quor was flown to Melbourne and received a transplanted liver to save her life.
However, within 48 hours, she had to receive a second one, because her body rejected the first.
The second lasted about eight months, but Ms Quor needed a third after that, because it “wasn't agreeing” with her.
Despite the long, complicated journey she had to endure, Ms Quor counts herself as extremely lucky.
“I’m very fortunate and I’m full of gratitude. Without DonateLife, I wouldn’t be here, so I’m forever thankful, forever grateful to the three donors.
She describes her third transplant as "perfect".
Ms Quor is still in recovery after her last transplant, but she is hoping to teach again as soon as she is able.
“They have to watch me because it’s still in the process of adjusting.”
She wants to use her experience as a teacher to educate children about the importance of organ donation.
“I would like the children and youth to understand how important it is, because without DonateLife, I would not be here.
“After the second transplant, what kept me positive and motivated was that I was going to have a grandson, as well as all my friends from school.
“People were very supportive of me.
“The staff at Grammar, both heads, and the school community, and the students sending me all these cards that filled my room.
“It gave me lots of comfort and the feeling that I am loved, I’m being remembered, I’m being thought of.”
There are about 1400 Australians waiting for life-saving organ transplants.
