Launceston is now set to face an “absolutely massive” encounter on Saturday that could shape its inaugural women’s State league finals campaign, according to Blues coach Alex Gibbins.

The Blues tackle Glenorchy at KGV Park in what looks certain to be a play off for the crucial second spot.
After Devonport’s withdrawal barely weeks out from the new statewide season, AFL Tasmania stuck to a final-four series among its new five-team competition.
Launceston currently now sits in second place over Glenorchy on percentage – 172.7 to 168.0 – as both sides carry a 5-2 win-loss record.
Gibbins said his Blues side are gunning for the double chance come finals time ahead of the Magpies game.
“It’s massive, absolutely massive,” he said.
“We want to finish top two – it’s only a top four and we want to at least finish second.
“So to do that, we really need to beat Glenorchy.
“But why not?”
Glenorchy blew its chance in the last meeting with Launceston at Windsor Park.
The Magpies had 15 scoring shots to eight, but the Blues resisted the onslaught for a three-point win.
But Gibbins fears that a repeat of recent shabby performances could prove costly.
“The real common theme for us is to play out four quarters,” he said.
“If we play four quarters, we’ll go a long way to winning the game. In fact, we’ll probably win.
“We’re just not doing that at the moment and we need that turnaround.”
