It started when Ziggy, a Siberian, was named Supreme Cat in Show at the Cat Council of Australia national show on the weekend.
When his owner Tracy Stewart collected his prize, 30 kilograms of Royal Canin dry food, she discovered a predicament.
“It’s a great product but we can’t take that back with us on the plane to Canberra, which is where we’re from,” Ms Stewart said.

Instead of wasting the cat food, she spoke to local cat breeders to find a worthy local recipient, settling on Just Cats Tasmania.
“I would have loved to have taken it home because I do use it, but I’m glad it’s going to a good cause.”
Just Cats Tasmania owner Rachel Beech said she was honoured the local charity was thought of.
“It just shows how fantastic our breeders are that they think of rescue organisations who look after the homeless cats,” Ms Beech said.
There were 46 cats and four kittens at the Longford-based shelter.
“It will help all those at the shelter, it won’t last very long but it will certainly be a treat,” Ms Beech said.
She kept thanking Ms Stewart for her generous donation, saying “you won this, this was your reward for breeding such a beautiful cat”, Ms Beech said.
“To think she’s happy to donate it to a rescue organisation it just blew my mind.”
