Coach Luke Burgess made the final cut less than 24 hours earlier for Tasmanian hopefuls that will turnout for the landmark National University Sevens Series against seven rival interstate sides.
The opening weekend of the inaugural rugby sevens series kicks off in Launceston on August 26 and 27 followed by stopovers in Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast.
Burgess trimmed the state’s best 27 female athletes down to his final 17 players.

The Tasmanians given the nod will be join seven ARU-contracted players that includes multiple Australian internationals and Rio Olympic gold medalist Ellia Green.
Burgess, who played 37 Test matches for the Wallabies, will now waste no time running athletic testing and internal trial matches at the Australian Maritime College.
“We had a testing battery a couple of months ago and we want to see what progress they’ve made,” he said.
“Once this final squad is confirmed, it is pretty serious from here on in until the start.”
