The appeal supports Launceston charities; St Vincent de Paul Society, the Launceston Benevolent Society, the Salvation Army and the Launceston City Mission.
The Examiner photographer Scott Gelston has donated a limited edition aluminium print of Richie Porte, valued at $1950, to the appeal.
“Richie is an inspiration to me, as he's someone from the region who has gone off to take on the world in his chosen sport but still thinks of Tasmania as his home,” Gelston said.
“I'm donating the print because I think it's the best way for me as an individual to help raise as much money as possible for our local charities.”

The donated image was a finalist in the 2016 Tasmanian Portrait Prize. Gelston captured Porte earlier that year as he prepared for his first season with team BMC and his fifth Tour de France bid.
While the 120 x 80cm print was one-of-three, it was the only print in the series to be signed and dated by Porte and Gelston.
The print can be viewed at AvantiPlus Launceston, shop 1a/16 St John Street, between 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.
You have until 11.59pm on Wednesday, July 26, to bid on the print. The highest bidder will be notified on Thursday, July 27, by phone
