The Tailrace Centre has received a grant which will reduce the building’s power costs.

A $50,000 grant has been given to the New Directions Community Church as part of the Liberal Government’s Community Infrastructure Fund.

The grant will be used to install solar panels.

Savings from the solar panels will allow the church to open a debt centre to advise and assist individuals living the region who are under financial stress.

The church had been planning to install solar panels for “some time” but it had been postponed until the financial resources were available.

Applications for the fund has been open since January and 120 projects have received funding so far.
