Opposition Leader Rebecca White announced the full list of candidates at George Town on Saturday.
In Bass, there will be five Labor candidates in the running.
Incumbent Labor member Michelle O’Byrne will contend with Adam Gore, who is an adviser to Bass Labor MHR Ross Hart; former Migrant Resource Centre general manager Jennifer Houston; sports administrator Brian Roe; and Scottsdale dairy farmer Owen Powell.
Dr Powell has a PhD in environmental management from the University of Queensland and has worked in Egypt and Palestine, determining methods for managing water resources.
Two years ago, he returned to Tasmania.
“I’ve been running the family farm since then,” he said.
Dr Powell said the reason he became interested in joining the Labor Party was because he wanted to be a “strong” advocate for youth and for working people.
