Now, the next "big thing" on the internet could very well be a family pet from the town of Queenstown in Maryland in the US.
Denver, a six-year-old female golden labrador, is quickly becoming a worldwide sensation after her owners Mali and Brenda Vujacnic uploaded a video of their much beloved family pet on to YouTube.
Titled "Denver The Guilty Dog", the two-minute video shows Mali walking around the family home, trying to discover the identity of pet responsible for eating a packet of "kitty cat treats" (which belonged to the household cat Jersey) while the rest of the family was out.
Mali quickly discounts their eldest family pooch Masey from the equation, and so his attention quickly turns to Denver, who is found sitting at the front door, wagging her tail and looking rather sheepish - and unfortunately for her, extremely guilty.
When confronted with the overwhelming evidence by her camera-wielding owner, Denver pulls her now famous "cute squint" faces before slinking out of the room.
According to her owners, the squinting face routine isn't anything new - Denver regularly pulls the adorable face when she knows she's in trouble.
The Vujacnic's video, which was uploaded in March this year, has become an internet sensation and is one of the most watched videos on YouTube, amassing more than 9.6 million views - and increasing by an incredible 100,000 views a day.
In fact, so popular has Denver become, her and her human family have featured on numerous television shows in the US including Good Morning America, Fox News, Inside Edition and many more.
Denver has also been awarded the most popular dog on the internet for 2011.
Determined to make the most of their unexpected fame, the Vujacnic's decided to put Denver's profile to good use by helping to raise money for the American Cancer Society and The National Disaster Search Dog Foundation.
The dog foundation rescues dogs and then trains them to find live persons after disasters, and has performed their life-saving work in such places as Japan, Haiti, in New Orleans after Cyclone Katrina and at Ground Zero in New York.
The family started their own website, www.ourguiltydog.com, which sells Guilty Dog pet bandanas, T-shirts and photographs of Denver, with profits
from the sale going to the two charitable organisations.
Denver also has her very own Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/guiltydog - which has an astounding 39,300 fans.
Denver, whose birthday is on July 4, was born in 2004 and was raised on the East Coast of the US.
According to her Facebook site, Denver loves swimming, fetching dummies, rolling in everything, making her family happy and playing with her two sisters, Masey and Jersey.
