Nine projects to support workers amid the impending closure of Murray Goulburn’s plant in Edith Creek have been announced by the government.

The projects aim to re-skill workers impacted by the closure, create jobs and encourage further economic development in the region.
They are worth a total of $656,810 and were announced today by Braddon MP and chair of the Circular Head Regional Economic Development Working Group, Joan Rylah.
“It’s about the whole community finding a new future,” she said.
“It’s not just about a dairy plant closure. It’s about expansion and opportunity.”
The announcement included $200,000 to help Circular Head businesses explore opportunities in interstate and international markets.
There was also $100,000 for a program to increase the competitiveness of small businesses in the region and $30,000 for training for the digital economy.
The other projects were:
- A contractors program worth $31,810 to assist contractors impact by the Murray Goulburn closure
- A $20,000 workshop program to help businesses get “export-ready”
- A tourism industry development program worth $100,000
- Rural Alive and Well Assistance program worth $30,000
- A Circular Head expo and jobs fair, worth $10,000 and
- $150,000 for Circular Head program and service delivery and administration.
