The Northern Bombers confirmed on social media that greats Gavin Luttrell, Rob Sanders and Ricky Young would be honoured at a game day function on August 5 for the home clash against bitter foes Clarence.
“All three gentlemen were magnificent players and leaders of our great club,” the club told supporters on its Facebook page.
The late Luttrell had been inducted into the inaugural Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
He captain-coached North Launceston from 1945 until 1950, leading the Robins to five straight premierships in all but his first season at the helm and three further state titles in 1947, 1949 and 1950.
Arguably coaching the club’s most successful era, Luttrell brought the first senior flag back to York Park since 1931 and later was named the coach of North’s greatest team of 1945-1999.
Sanders played 153 games at North Launceston from 1967 until 1975 after starting out in the under-19s in 1965.
But he was best known for coaching the Robins from 1982 to 1992 that included a former-NTFA premiership in 1983 before the club crossed over to the TFL Statewide League in 1986.
Sanders would later return to take up the role of the club’s football manager in 1995 for two State League seasons.
Young debuted in 1975 at just 16 years of age, going on to play 193 games for North.
The highlight proved to be captaining the 1983 NTFA premiership side under the guidance of his father and coach Tony ‘Chang’ Young.
