UPDATE 12.27pm:
Tasmania Police have confirmed that a 55-year-old woman has died as a result of this morning’s crash.
Police said the woman’s next of kin had been notified.
UPDATE 10.30am: A 55-year-old woman is in a critical condition after the car she was driving collided with a bus on Thursday morning.
Police believe the woman suffered a medical episode, which caused her to crash into the Metro bus.
The crash occurred about 9.30am on Penquite Road, at the Queechy Road intersection.
It is expected that the road will be closed until about 12.30pm, between Amy Road and Norwood Avenue.
The bus driver is being treated for shock.
The woman is believed to be a resident of greater Launceston.
She was the only occupant of the vehicle.
There was one passenger on the bus at the time of the crash. They were not injured.
