Hospital car park
WITH regards to Jo Palmer's comment on car parks at the hospital I certainly agree with her. I think it may have been last year that I commented on the lack of spaces. Although with my fluid on the brain short term memory is a bit of a bummer. I mentioned last time that the council should have built a multi-storey car park. With our hills surrounding our hospitals having to park along way from the hospital trudging up hills does become a little tiring.

Building regulations
THE chorus of builders and developers with their red and green tape whinge, do so for one thing, make money and get out. Once it's built it’s your problem, one only has to look at NSW/VIC for the consequences. Could the use of illegal building problem be a problem here? Almost certainly, the system is there to be circumvented, as those other states have had regulations waived as they were all special friends of the governments of the times. We are bound to repeat their mistakes.

Wellington Street resurfacing
CONGRATULATIONS to Mayor Van Zetten and Launceston City councillors on the excellent resurfacing of the southern section of Wellington Street, between the turn-offs to Westbury Road and Peel Street. Appreciation also goes to the contractors who were so efficient that the surfacing was done in a week after considerable other necessary work had to be undertaken. Street side residents will now have a much quieter life and road users also will appreciate the smoother passage.
Roger Valentine, South Launceston.
Council rates
THE “gift of $10,000” to the Local Government Association of Tasmania to oppose the TasWater takeover made by Northern Midlands councillors is appalling.
The “Compensation payment made in the annual rates in 2016/2017” for the airport was bad enough, along with the “costs thereto” but this is appalling. Now they intend to increase our rates again this year.
