The festival creates a weaving trail of art along the East Coast during the June long weekend, starting on Saturday.
Festival director Heidi Howe said she hoped 5000 people would visit the festival this year.
It would be close to 1000 more than 2016 when wet weather put a dampener on the festivities.
“Art doesn’t have to be a fine art painting in a gallery,” Ms Howe said.
She was pleased the four-day festival brought artwork to a regional area.
The $20,000 Bay of Fires Art Prize had more than 40 finalists, with a quarter of the 200 entries coming from interstate for the competition.
