In Hobart on Friday night the TasICT Awards for Excellence and iAward Winners event was held.
It is the most significant annual event for Tasmania’s information and technology community.
Winning inventions include a world-first portable PopUp WiFi invention that provides fast internet for major events, and technology solutions that offers primary producers new technology to increase yields and reduce risk.
TasICT chief executive Will Kestin said Tasmania was “punching above its weight” on the digital world stage.
Mr Kestin said the quality of digital initiatives and programs seemed to improve every year.
“At least three of the 11 [award recipients] are world-first technologies that have been developed in Tasmania and are now being sold to the world,” he said.
“The quality of the winners this year has been spectacular.”
