“Tweaking” was very much the buzzword when the 49-year-old South African spoke to media on Tuesday.
After a couple of days meeting staff at Hobart, Kirsten identified plenty of positive signs. “It’s a team that is bubbling under, just a few tweaks can make a big difference,” he said.
“I’m mindful not to arrogantly just walk in spaces and say you guys are doing things wrong – there’s a lot of good here, and I’ll make sure wherever I feel I can potentially add a tweak somewhere that needs tweaking we’ll jump on that space.”
The left-handed batsman, who replaced Damien Wright as Hurricanes coach, stressed the importance of aligning and integrating with the Tasmanian Tigers and their newly-appointed coach Adam Griffith and said he’d had several “non-binding” conversations with key players including captain George Bailey, Tim Paine and Dan Christian.
