More than 80 performers including a children’s choir, will take to the stage to bring the story of Joseph and his coat of many colours to life, supported by a school orchestra.
Alongside the school performers, the stage manager, lighting and sound are all being managed by students with support from teachers.
Open to the public for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night performances, the school’s drama team selected Joseph for this year’s production to show off a strong cast of voices.
“We chose Joseph because we had the singers – for this show you really need good singers and we had the cohort that was able, and a good number who are also dancers,” director Lou Peters said.
Alongside the powerful voices of Tarrant Edwards (Joseph) and Guy Chilcott (Jacob) are the narrators, Medhanit Barratt and Sarah Durkin.
Peters said the production had some unique challenges including the crossover effect of many actors, singers and dancers already participating in other productions
The plot tells the Biblical story of Joseph and his eleven brothers, through a medley of songs with almost no spoken dialogue.
Public performances run from Wednesday, May 31 to Friday June 2, at the Launceston Church Grammar Assembly Hall at 36 Button Street, Mowbray Heights, from 7pm.
Tickets are $15 for an adult, $8 for students, and $36 for a family. To book visit lcgs.tas.edu.au
