Hosted by the North East Equine Endurance Club, the annual ride’s major 80km challenge was completed by a trio of competitors who rode most of the second stage together before crossing the finish line side-by-side.
Brook Brown-Cordell took out the middleweight division riding Tierview Salama, a nine-year-old Arab mare, while Grace Huxtable riding the six-year-old Arab mare Highland View Penny won the lightweight division.
Bella Pickering and Brittany Farrell were equal first in the junior division, Pickering on the 10-year-old Arab gelding Vandieman Trojen, and Farrell on seven-year-old Arab gelding Sanndenoa Shining Constellation.
John Shoobridge won the heavyweight division on the five-year-old part-Arab gelding Bulls Eye.
All but two horses successfully completed the 40-kilometre intermediate ride, while mother and daughter pair Katja and Niah Marjanen, from Cygnet, successfully completed the 20km introductory ride on their 16-year-old Appaloosa gelding Dusty and 12-year-old Welsh Section B gelding Shadow respectively.
Committee member Donna Venn said this year the endurance club has been trialling new tracking equipment to monitor riders riders across the course, with the help of the Northern Tasmania Amateur Radio Club.
