Beginning on Thursday with the APAL Speed Updating and Golf Day, the conference is the premier event for Tasmania’s fruit industry, Fruit Growers Tasmania business development manager Phil Pyke said.
“Stuart Tustan is talking about orchard productivity and we’re holding a cider workshop for the first time. There’s strong interest in that,” Mr Pyke said.
“There’s also discussions on biosecurity and hygiene in orchards and Andrew Cox is talking about the threat of fire ants from Queensland. They are quite savage ants that destroy environments,” he said.
The main conference is on Friday at Tailrace Centre, Riverside, followed by the awards dinner and field days on Saturday at Hillwood Berry Farm and Calthorpe Orchards, Sidmouth.
