Potter will fly into Launceston and be with the team for a shoot around on Saturday before the team plays later tonight against ladder leading Bendigo.
Potter was the coach of the Torns in 2015-16 but left to take up the role of director of coaching for the Werribee Basketball Association late last year.
He will be assisted by Wynyard’s Michael Johnstone who was Potter’s assistant last year and has been taking the team for training sessions this week.
“We are thankful that Reece has agreed to help out the club for the next two games while we go through our recruitment process to find a new head coach,” chairwoman Janie Finlay said.
“We are grateful to Werribee Basketball Association who has agreed to allow Reece to help us out for the next two games.
“Expressions of interest for the coaching role closed Tuesday and we are now speaking to those applicants and will be conducting interviews over the coming days.
“Having Reece come in to help us doesn’t signal any decisions regarding the coaching role at this stage.
“We appreciate the importance of filling the role quickly, but we are also ensuring we find the right candidate for the role.
“We believe we have a strong group this season and it’s important we bring someone in who can work with the group and get the most from them.”
