Patrick Sutczak started at the gallery as a board member and has been a part of the gallery ever since.
He said being able to develop the gallery had been one of his favourite memories.
“To grow it from what we started out with three exhibition spaces to now we’re running six shows a month for 11 months of the year, it’s been really exciting to do that,” he said.
“It’s been a great thing for Launceston and the Tasmanian arts community. It’s a really important organisation to be a part of.”
Chairman Darryl Rogers said the board would be looking for someone with Sutczak’s qualities to fill his position.
“(Someone) who is able to find great artists from all over the place and then can manage the six shows a month, which is quite a large call. Someone who is looking for a step up,” he said.
“The experience they will get here is quite considerable and we will give someone a great ground in being able to go further in a career in curation or in arts management.”
Sutczak will use his freedom to be move forward with his own art career and finish some projects.
