It was another strong performance for the Launceston racer in just his sixth outing since joining Formula 500s, off the back of a sixth-place in the Australian championship at Murray Bridge.
Starting from sixth in the 20-lap feature race, by virtue of third and fifth places in his heats, the 16-year- old launched a late push for the podium.
Goodyer said he was delighted to be competitive. “It is a really tough track and a huge learning curve for us, and to come away with a podium finish is even more than we were hoping for,” he said.
“It was a really strong night for us and we’ve picked up a lot of knowledge and experience from racing against such tough competition. We’re looking forward to heading to Brisbane this Saturday night and continuing to learn and improve.”
Completing his visit to the mainland, Goodyer’s next appearance will be this Saturday night’s penultimate F500 championship series round at Archerfield Speedway in Queensland.
