Tasmania Fire Service was called to the scene in Wandella Avenue shortly after 11am, where a fire had broken out in the upper levels of a three-storey property.
Despite some difficulty negotiating Anzac Day traffic, four vehicles and 18 firefighters from the Hobart and Taroona fire brigades attended the incident.
Firefighters were able to limit the damage to the top and middle storeys of the house, with the lower level left largely untouched by fire.
Fire investigators and Techsafe electrical inspectors deemed the fire to have been caused by an electrical fault in the switchboard.
The property contained working smoke alarms.
