Dr Hyland
IN THE article by Tamara McDonald, (April 15) there was no mention of how the first 700 clients of Dr Hyland are now coping. I ask: How many clients are suffering from Post Abortion Syndrome? That is, suffering from depression, drug and alcohol abuse, pervasive sadness, loss of self-esteem, a feeling of shame, guilt, and remorse, and that list goes on. Society needs to react with compassion and care for people suffering any dilemma, but the consideration of consequences is necessary. I ask too: What information does Dr Hyland offer in respect to the client continuing the pregnancy? Does the clinical psychologist offer a continuing of the pregnancy and the advantages of that?

Illawarra Road
THERE is real community concern about the government's ill-conceived Perth road upgrade. The government’s plan to turn Illawarra Road into a cul-de-sac will restrict residents access between Perth and Longford. This ill-fated plan is not in the best interests of the townships because it will cut off the communities of Perth and Longford. These towns are friendly neighbours and many residents travel between the towns on a daily basis. The loss of the Illawarra Road connection will not only lead to poorer social and health outcomes for residents it will also have negative consequences on the business community and broader local midlands economy. I wish the Hodgman Liberal Government would stop making decisions from their Government buildings in Hobart and actually talk to residents and consult with the broader community.
