AMA Tasmania president Dr Stuart Day said it was “time for an independent inquiry” into the RHH, as hospital and community-based health professionals were concerned about capacity.
He said the inquiry could look at capacity of the health system more broadly.
Dr Day said the recently announced opening of 27 sub-acute beds around Hobart was a good start but more needed to be done quickly.
Labor leader Rebecca White called for a parliamentary inquiry into the RHH “crisis” on Monday.
Health Minister Michael Ferguson said Ms White had “no solutions or policies of her own on health”.
