Krystal Burns and her three children have been searching the streets of Ravenswood after their two-year-old purebred Rottweiler, Sasha, was taken.
Miss Burns said her seven-year-old daughter, Zarlia, was absolutely heartbroken.
“They all burst into tears when I told them … especially my daughter, she started drawing pictures of Sasha and saying how much she loves her,” she said.
“We have lost part of our family.”
Sasha was on a chain in the backyard when neighbours noticed a man enter the yard and walk out with her.
“She was on the chain because she jumps the fence,” Miss Burns said.
“I’m worried they’ve taken her to sell or to use in dog fights, because she is a big dog.”
While Sasha has escaped before, Miss Burns said she always comes back.
“When she gets out she comes back and sits at the front door,” she said.
Pleading for information from the public, Miss Burns said she had contacted both Tasmania Police and RSPCA Tasmania in an effort to track down Sasha.
The pup was taken about 2.30pm Wednesday from Hazelwood Parade in Ravenswood.
The man who is believed to have taken Sasha was seen wearing a puffer jacket and blue pants.
“The RSPCA has my details so people can contact them if they see her,” Miss Burns said.
