The family of Tasmania’s Attorney-General Vanessa Goodwin has thanked the state for their support after she was diagnosed with several brain tumours.

Dr Goodwin was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital “extremely unwell” on Friday.
A distressed Premier, Will Hodgman, will take on Dr Goodwin’s portfolio while she undergoes treatment.
“This is very distressing news for all those who work with her, and who know her,” he said.
“Vanessa is a warm-hearted, hard working and highly respected member of the community.”
On Sunday morning Dr Goodwin’s family said the priority “now is for Vanessa’s health and wellbeing”.
“We are very grateful for the messages of love and support from Vanessa’s friends, colleagues and the wider Tasmanian community,” the statement read.
“We understand that Vanessa is a public figure, but we ask that her privacy be respected to allow Vanessa to focus on her care over the coming weeks.
“We would also like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff at the Royal Hobart Hospital for their professionalism and dedicated care of Vanessa.”
Last year Dr Goodwin’s mother, Edyth Langham-Goodwin, died of brain tumours.
Tasmanian Labor Senator Catryna Bilyk is familiar with the challenge facing Dr Goodwin.
In 2008 Senator Bilyk had two tumours removed from her brain.
