Let's face it, forestry is becoming a dirty word, and certainly a 'poison chalice' to the government as well as the Opposition. Pensioner downsizing
WOULD a pensioner downsizing his house make more housing available? What if the following were possible. He sells his house for say $800,000. He buys a smaller house or unit for say $450,000. If the difference of $350,000 were regarded as an asset, it could stop, or reduce his pension.
That money should be allowed to be put in a superannuation scheme. If this exceeds the cap of $1.6 million cap, the law should be changed for these cases.
