Verge defeated Hobart’s Sue Beattie to qualify and then caused an upset by taking down her New South Wales counterpart 26-18, 26-11 in the decider.
Victorian Tricia Devlin won 26-19, 26-0 against Gail Hopkins to pinch the Y series title, while South Australian Robyn Short was too good for Western Australia’s Jannine Hawker in the Z series final – winning 26-1, 26-10.
South Australian Virginia Arney defeated Tasmania’s Elaine Roomes in the W series final. In the men’s competition played out in Hobart, Victoria’s Robert Fletcher was victorious over West Australia’s Ian Dumergue. South Australia’s Dwayne McCormick won the W series, Victorian Stephen Forster took out the Y series and NSW’s Trevor Bassett claimed the Z series.
