PO Salaries
COULD someone explain to me why the head of the Post Office is getting that outrageous salary. Wasn't it a couple of years ago that The GPO was crying poor.

They were supposed to be running at a loss. Mind you as it now costs a $1 a stamp things must be looking up.
Five Million for the chief and one million for his deputies. A bit much don't you think.
Ten times what the Prime Minister gets, it is ridiculous.

Politicians pensions
WHY ARE politicians allowed to start their pensions when they finish work and everyone else has to wait until the age of 65?
Why don’t politicians use medicare like everyone else, why are they so special that they get private health?
Why do we think we work for politicians, hey don’t they work for us?
Why don’t we decide their wage and benefits then?
A mystery for sure.

Tax “Laffer Curve”
REGARDING the letter from Bob Elliston (The Examiner, February 13), I fully agree with Mr Elliston.
Our illustrious Federal Treasurer has much to learn other than that of talking over people and offering useless rhetoric tax breaks to those who pay no tax from a treasury seeking to cut expenses is definitely "fuzzy logic".
Time to produce a treasurer who has at least a clue.

CH Smith building
I CANNOT understand the mentality of the Heritage Protection Society (Tasmania).
The C.H. Smith building has been deteriorating for years but it seems the Society would prefer the building to be permanently lost rather than sympathetically restored.
I have some experience with the Resource Management and Planning Appeal Tribunal and am confident the Tribunal will make a sensible determination.
