The Launceston 41-year-old will tackle the Northern Territory’s rough terrain and sleep in a swag under the stars over five days in June, alongside strangers who are also fundraising through the RFDS Outback Adventure.
“We’ll walk, on average, 20 km/per day,” Ms Page said.
“I think that come June, I’ll be more than ready to do the walk, I’m just really excited.”
Having worked in Tasmania and Victoria in regional nursing, she has great respect for the RFDS.
She aims to raise at least $4000 for the RFDS by late May, is the first Tasmanian participant in the program and funded her own travel costs.
Registrations for the RFDS Outback Adventure 2017 are still open.
Ms Page, a community engagement officer at the Launceston Clinical School, has been using Cataract Gorge “extensively” for training.
