Clark rode in seven races on Wednesday but is best-known for riding 56 winners in her debut season in the saddle to claim the Tasmanian apprentice jockeys’ premiership.
Her day started early with trackwork, packing her racing gear and travelling to Launceston, where she had to be weighed in and mentally prepare for the multiple races.
“I’ve been here two years now and I think it will be great to get over to Adelaide and start that journey,” Clark said.
“I want to try and get some wins off my metropolitan claim over there and I just really want to learn as much as I can and be a sponge over there to improve my riding and get some more wins on the board.”
Clark’s brother is a trainer in Longford and she fell in love with racing after helping him do trackwork.
“Once that happened I went back to Devonport to a trainer called Barry Campbell and did an apprenticeship with him and went from there,” she said.
“I do it mainly because of the love for the horses, they are everything to me.”
While Clark has been inspired by many her partner, Melbourne jockey Anthony Darmanin, is a strong influence.
“I look up to him a lot because he has won a lot of Group 1s and he is just a good a role model as any.”
