The Triple J favourites will play alongside a handful of Tasmanian acts including The Prickly Grapes, New Wave Saints and Vauda at Hotel Tasmania on March 18, with all funds from the concert donated to pancreatic cancer research through the Pancare Foundation. 

Beat Fest coordinator Gina Faulkner said the East Coast quartet was a massive drawcard. 

“When I decided to have the concert they were the first band I had in mind,” Faulkner said.

“Tassie young ones really love Luca Brasi so I thought ‘that's going to bring them all in’.”

Faulkner said she had been inspired to create the concert after discovering the lack of funding available for pancreatic cancer when her former partner was diagnosed with the disease. 

“I spoke to professors, scientists, researchers and they all said the same thing; they had clinical trials but they couldn’t go much further because of the lack of funding.

“I want to educate the public and the wider community and I thought the best way is a music concert because it's actually going to affect the younger generation - by 2030 it's going to be most likely the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Australia.”

Beat Fest is an over-18 event.
