The Spray Application Manual for Grain Growers, a Grain Research and Development Corporation initiative, is a digital publication freely available online.
It contains information on the intricacies of various spraying systems, as well as the factors growers need to address to improve efficiency and efficacy.
While he acknowledged the importance of spray application, GRDC managing director Steve Jefferies said sustainable practice was vital.
“The control of weeds, diseases and pests in a timely manner, while minimising risks to the environment, requires that the spray operator has a good understanding of all the components that can influence the outcome of each spray job,” Dr Jefferies said.
“This new manual focuses on issues that will assist in maintaining the accuracy of the sprayer output while improving the efficiency and safety of spraying operations.
“It … will no doubt be well received by growers and operators.”
The manual consists of 23 modules, each including a series of practical videos, offering advice on spray application, different nozzle types and more.
