Developer and owner Allan Virieux said he was both relieved and nervous ahead of the official reveal, despite the hotel having a ‘soft open’ over the past three weeks.
“With the slope of the land the landscaping has taken a little bit longer and we have changed a few things because of the slope,” he said.
“The sewage system is articulated all through the lawns and it has also taken a bit of time to do that.”
Executive manager Naomi Walsh said 26 boutique accommodation units overlooking the Tamar River, with capacity to sleep more than 60 people, had been completed.
“We’ve got some conjoined options and some twin options, we’ve also got a luxury spa option for people to enjoy and we have a two-room option as well,” she said.
The hotel has also built a day spa facility which is linked to the accommodation via a boardwalk but a tenant is yet to be secured.
Ms Walsh said the hotel has hosted guest in two to three units during the soft opening and it is completely booked out on Friday and Saturday.
The first stage of the project included a new glasshouse dining area, beer garden, corporate boardroom/entertainment space with balcony and a hidden, temperature controlled wine cellar.
The final stage will be a 40 to 60 berth marina.
“I have a meeting on Thursday with the designers who have done some initial design,” Mr Virieux said.
