The roadworks, near McDonalds and Kyeema Seafoods, will include dedicated right-hand turn lanes and turn arrows for vehicles turning into Opossum Road.
City of Launceston general manager Robert Dobrzynski said the works were part of a road safety project.
"There is a regular crash record at the junction of Hobart Road and Opossum Road in Kings Meadows. Most of the 20 crashes that have occurred here over the past five years involve right turning vehicles from Hobart Road into Opossum Road conflicting with through-traffic on Hobart Road,” Mr Dobrzynski said.
The road works have included a resealing of the junction and the installation of the new layout.
Mr Dobrzynski said right turn arrows would be provided when the signals were upgraded in coming weeks.
A dedicated right turn lane will also be installed at Blaydon Street.
The project is partly funded by the federal government’s black spot program.
