A Tasmanian man expressed his heartfelt gratitude to firefighters after they rescued his dog, Sandy, from his burning home.

Tasmania Fire Service crews were called to the Austins Ferry home in Hobart about 11pm on Sunday after reports of a fire.
Sandy was inside the house at the time of the blaze.
“Firefighters calmed Sandy down inside the burning house, carried her to safety and then treated her with oxygen,” Tasmania Fire Service said.
“Thankfully Sandy the dog survived after inhaling some smoke and burning her nose. She is being treated at the vet.”
Sandy’s owner, Bradley Shea, shared a post online thanking TFS.
“I would like to thank all the firemen and women that came and helped put out the fire and tried saving my house, you guys are absolutely amazing at what you do,” Mr Shea said.
The fire took almost two hours to bring under control, with career firefighters from Glenorchy and Bridgewater as well as volunteer firefighters from Claremont attending the Newitt Drive address.
A fire investigation is underway.
