The organiser, John Pooley, hopes to expand the event into a statewide show.
Cancer Council Tasmania chief executive officer Penny Egan said the organisation was thrilled to be involved in the first-ever event for the area.
“It was fabulous weather. They had a range of vehicles from before the 1970s and a range of wonderful new Porsche’s,” Mrs Egan said.
“I think John Pooley would be very happy with the turn out and people coming to look at the cars.”
Mrs Egan said the Cancer Council relies heavily on fundraising.
“Ninety per cent of what we need comes from the community and that is about $4 million a year that we have to raise.”
“We’re really pleased to be able engage with our community and people like John who are out there having a good time and are raising money for us.
“It’s a wonderful community fundraising event and the more that our community engages with us and the more everyone can raise a few extra dollars, the consolidated amount becomes close to what we need to run the business every year.”
The amount raised was so far unknown. However, the money will stay in Tasmania and will be put towards cancer research and prevention strategies.
“We say every Tasmanian has a cancer story because nearly nine people a day are receiving a cancer diagnosis,” Mrs Egan said.
“The generosity of John Pooley and his organising team is another example of how Tasmanians support Cancer Council Tasmania.”
Organiser John Pooley said the event also highlighted the Richmond Sunday Market, which accompanied the car show.
“The gold coin donation will be a great initiative for our Tasmanian community to help combat the scourge of cancer,” he said.
The display was organised by Richmond and Coal River Valley Promotions and Porsche Club Tasmania.
