The Douce-skipped rink walked off the green with a 24-shot advantage over last year’s team mate Adam Gurr in a dominating performance.
Douce was steady from the get go, converting easily when required with bowls from his front end always round about it.
Andrew Whitmore played against Will Springer in a family affair as Will and brother Sam teamed up with John and Corey Bowerman, everyone’s favourite father/son combination.
It was a high-scoring game from the start and finished in split points with a 26-all draw.
Robert McMullen did all he could against David Minns winning 38-15, playing some great conversions throughout the day, but could not turn the tide late in the game to get the overall.
The win pushes North in to second position ahead of Trevallyn and East in the four.
Trevallyn took on Beauty Point at home and the Point were looking to back up last week’s winning performance over East with a win against Trevallyn at home. They did just that.
Josh Appleyard did all he could with his eleventh win for the year, but eight shots was not enough to get them over the line, the friendlies going down by one overall.
Douce was steady from the get go, converting easily when required.
Jason Lane was last on the green with a chance to get the overall but the Point held on for a one shot, 10-2 win.
Bruce Howard made the difference on the day, winding back the clock in a match-winning performance.
Chris Roach had a tight tussle throughout the day with Boof Slater, the lead seesawing as the game progressed.
Slater drew the shot on the last end to get the only two points for Cosgrove.
Daniel Baker’s rink got the jump on Terrence Manion to lead by 10 at the afternoon tea break.
The second half of the game was evenly matched, the end result a 12-shot win to Baker.
Joey Thomas kept things close on his rink with some multiples late in the game, giving Thomas the rink win on the day.
North Launceston take on the in-form Beauty Point at Beauty Point next week, with the Point looking to find their way in to the four, and North Launceston hoping to cement their position in the top two.
East Launceston travel to Scottsdale without state representative Scott Summers and Trevallyn and Longford will be looking for full points to start their finals run.
